Destinations Guide - A Curated Guide to NYC and San Francisco
Client: A person who knows how to spend time with quality.
Task
Project
An iOS app offering handpicked recommendations for places to visit in New York City and San Francisco, with a custom-built content management system.
Challenge
The client, a prominent columnist, wanted to extend his personal recommendations to a broader audience through a mobile platform. He aimed to create an app that curated the best spots in NYC and San Francisco, allowing users to explore, visit, and rate these places. However, he needed a streamlined way to publish content, ensuring each recommendation could be easily managed and updated within the app.

Build an intuitive iOS app where users could discover and rate curated places in NYC and San Francisco.
-
Enable the client to publish and update content via a custom content management system (CMS).
-
Create an experience that reflects the client’s personal brand and insider knowledge of the cities.
Solution
We developed an iOS app featuring:
-
Handpicked Locations: Users could browse a selection of highly recommended spots across NYC and San Francisco, curated by the client.
-
Ratings & Reviews: Users could visit the recommended places and leave feedback, creating a community-driven aspect.
-
Custom CMS: We designed a content management system that allowed the client to effortlessly update and manage locations, descriptions, and reviews from a single dashboard.
Impact and Results
-
Engaged User Base: The app attracted a niche audience interested in curated, local experiences.
-
Content Control: The custom CMS empowered the client to maintain and update his recommendations without relying on developers.
-
App Lifespan: Although the project is now defunct and no longer available in the AppStore, it successfully provided a personalised guide to the cities while it was active.
